What can I expect when I visit Distractions?

Each participant pays a $7 studio fee for up to 2 hours of painting, or they can save $2 by booking a reservation online.

Explore all the art project possibilities and choose one. Each project price is clearly displayed. Some projects can be taken home the same day. Projects that require kiln firing, such as ceramics, must be picked up a few days later or shipped.

Do I need to make a reservation?

Great question! Reservations are recommended during our busier day and especially on holidays and school breaks when seats fill up fast.However, walk-ins are welcome during normal business hours.Click here to book a reservation today and save. We'll save you a seat!

How long until my pottery piece is kiln fired and ready to go home?

Accepted Answer

Typically, all glazed pottery pieces are fired and ready for pick up within 7 days. If needed, or simply desired, Distractions will ship your projects within the United States. Additional shipping fees apply.

What are the costs involved when visiting, and are there ways save on fees?

At Distractions, each painter pays a $7 studio fee that covers the use of our facilities and materials.

To save money, we recommend booking your reservation online, which reduces the studio fee by $2 per painter.

In addition to the studio fee, you will choose a pottery project to paint, with prices beginning at $20 and varying depending on the piece you select.

We offer a wide range of project options at different price points to suit your preferences and budget. This structure ensures a transparent, customizable experience while also giving you access to a broad selection of creative pottery pieces to choose from.

In additional to pottery, we offer canvas painting options.

What if I'm not very creative?

No worries! This is art entertainment!  We are all about having fun and making memories!

Our amazing staff is on hand to answer questions, give instructions, offer suggestions, and provide helpful tips if needed. With so many pottery pieces to choose from, there's always something for everyone. Every piece is a unique masterpiece!

Does everyone in my party need to choose the same type of project?

No, each individual gets to choose whatever project they find interesting. We value individuality.

Can I bring in outside food or drinks?

Accepted Answer

Yes! You are welcome to bring in your own drinks and snacks.

Question 8

Can I book the Distractions studio for team celebrations, birthday parties, bachelorette parties, etc.?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We always love getting the opportunity to make your special occasion or custom event fun for your guests and easy for you as well.

We are available for in-studio parties or off-site events at your location. In the studio, we have space for approximately 25-30 guests downstairs and 20 guests upstairs. The entire studio can be booked out for up to 50 guests.

Fill out the Custom Event Form, and a Distractions team member will reach out to you regarding your special occasion.

Question 9

Do you offer clay on pottery wheels?

Accepted Answer

Due to the space required for clay and the length of curing time (typically 1-2 weeks), we are unable to offer clay as an option. However, we have several different projects ready for you to paint for all your art entertainment needs.

Starting each October, Distractions will do clay handprint impressions for the little ones.

Finally, during camps or homeschool groups, we can arrange clay hand-building. Call or message the studio directly for more information.

Question 10

Is the plate or mug we painted safe to use at home?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! All of our ceramic paints are non-toxic and food safe as long as you use our glazes to paint them.

After the firing process, your completed ceramic pieces are both food safe and dishwasher safe, although hand washing is recommended.

The only exception is if you paint using our acrylic paints, then those items would not be considered food safe. Acrylic-painted items are only for show.

Don't worry, we make sure you use the correct materials!

Can we bring our school or summer campers for a fieldtrip?

Of course! We love getting to do fieldtrips at our location or yours.
